Edison Water Utility Notice on COVID-19

As we continue to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19), the health and safety of our community and employees is our top priority.  We are regularly monitoring updates provided by the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and other state and federal organizations to ensure the continuation of our operations.

Out of concern for the health and safety of our employees and our customers, Edison Water Utility staff will not enter residences to read meters until further notice. Edison Water Utility is also suspending non-essential field appointments and will limit the amount and nature of contact with customers during all emergency field appointments. Customers are advised to continue reporting water emergencies to our 24-Hour Emergency Hotline: (732) 287-0100.

Beginning March 18, 2020, general public access to the Municipal Building, including the Edison Water Utility office, will be restricted to those individuals with pre-scheduled appointments. To limit risks to employees and other customers, we strongly encourage customers to manage their accounts and payments online at

Additionally, customers may pay bills via:

  • Phone at (732) 248-6400
  • ACH Direct Withdrawal
  • If paying by check, customers may mail payments to Edison Tax Collector, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison, NJ 08817, or use the 24-hour curb side drop box located outside the Municipal Building. Cash will not be accepted for drop box payments.

Alternatively, customers seeking to make cash payments may schedule an appointment by calling (732) 287-0900 and following the prompts to the appropriate department. Visitors will be required to check in upon arrival. However, we request that you refrain from visiting municipal offices if you:

  • have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), including fever or cough;
  • have travelled to, or been in close contact with someone who has travelled to, a high-risk country as identified by the US Center for Disease Control in the last 14 days; or
  • have been informed by public health officials that you are suspected or confirmed to have
  • COVID-19.
